The Host
I am a South Asian woman living in Germany with an academic background in life sciences and horticulture.
I love reading fiction books (I just love a good story with a kickass female protagonist), and watching TV shows and movies, particularly thrillers, suspense, mysteries, horror, period dramas, and fantasy genres, as well as occasional painting and word games. I also like watching anime, and some of my all-time favourite anime series include Dragon Ball Z, One Punch Man, Mashle: Muscles and Magic, Violet Evergarden, Inuyasha, Spy x Family, The Apothecary Diaries, and Fruits Basket (I procrastinate on watching Attack on Titan).
Although I am not a huge foodie, I love spicy food and I need it every day. I also consider myself a vocal feminist and a firm believer in human rights and the philosophy of “live and let live, and mind your goddamn business.”
As a casual history enthusiast who has been living in Europe for quite some time, I find myself fascinated by the charms of medieval history. I particularly enjoyed visiting Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Brussels, and Granada, and in Germany, Heidelberg and Nürnberg top the list. My dream is to visit countries with ancient histories, explore places I have only ever read about, and feed that part of me that has never really outgrown the urge to escape into another world entirely.
Roots Revealed Podcast
Roots Revealed podcast tries to uncover the ways plants have influenced human behaviour, emotions, and societies through time, sprinkled with some scientific perspectives.
In each episode, I will delve deeply into a specific plant, exploring its origins, folklore, significance in arts and history, and wrapping up with a little bit of medicinal and science-based facts.
The idea behind creating this podcast was two mix two aspects of life. My academic subject horticulture and my fascination for history, mystery, and folklore. I believe that knowing about the past can reveal the intricacies between plants and humans, and provide valuable insights into the present and future. With my endeavour, I want you to have a deeper appreciation for diversity and beauty of the flora around us.
My aim is to create well-researched content, drawing references from reliable sources such as scientific papers, academic journals, books, botanical and historical encyclopaedias, and relevant websites.
